The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a new version of the "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Division of Radio Frequencies" (Decree No. 62 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations on the Division"), which will be officially implemented on July 1.
The "Division Regulations" are the basic administrative regulations for the development, utilization and protection of radio spectrum resources in China, and play an important role in promoting the rational and effective use of radio spectrum resources and guiding the high-quality development of the radio industry. In accordance with the Radio Regulations of the International Telecommunication Union, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology takes into account the medium - and long-term needs of various departments and industries for spectrum resources, and regularly organizes amendments to the Regulations on Allocation.
In the revision of the "Division Regulations", the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology took the lead in the world to divide all or part of the 6425-7125MHz band for IMT (International Mobile communication, including 5G/6G) system. 6GHz is the only high-quality resource of large bandwidth in the mid-band, taking into account the advantages of coverage and capacity, which is particularly suitable for 5G or future 6G system deployment, and can play the advantages of the existing mid-band 5G global industry. The determination of its rule status in the form of regulations is conducive to stabilizing 5G/6G industry expectations, promoting the consistent global or regional division of 5G/6G spectrum resources, providing sufficient mid-band frequency resources for the development of 5G/6G, and promoting the innovation and development of mobile communication technology and industry.
